Welcome to the New Templars, the Warriors of the Heart of the 21st century.
A 4-day retreat in Tomar, the capital of the Templars in Portugal.

‘Through the ages there have always been sacred warriors, who have heard the call of the heart. In any form. Be it Christian, Roman or Celtic… The outer circumstances don’t matter. Because underneath there is always the same tradition of the heart, who upholds the ethics and the sacred laws of the universe. It is this tradition that you are part of, in a long lineage from the Essenes, the Cathars, the Templars… And it is up to you to restore that tradition to be in service in these times of transition.’

ONCE UPON A TIME…
Centuries ago, a group of ‘warriors of the heart’ gathered, first in Jerusalem, later in France. They called themselves the Templars, after the Temple of Jerusalem. They were a group of mystical knights, that combined their spiritual quest with practical actions in the world. When they were excommunicated by the church and arrested on october 13th, 1307, some of them escaped towards Scotland and towards Portugal. The Portuguese king gave them protection and they created a new spiritual capital: the city of Tomar.

GATHERING OF THE NEW TEMPLARS
It is here in Tomar that we want to come together and invite you for a gathering of ‘New Templars’. Not in the historical sense of men fighting for territory, but in the original sense of chivalrous men and women protecting the heart and soul of mankind and as protectors of the earth. Young and old people from all races, all religions, all backgrounds that have heard the call of their soul, that want to follow their heart and that want to connect to fellow travelers on the path.

Are you one of those ‘warriors of the heart’, wanting to share your experiences and willing the co-create a new future? Then you are very welcome for a four day retreat in Tomar in Portugal in Hotel Dos Templarios, at the foot of the old templar castle.

OPEN SPACE
We work with the principles of Open Space, meaning we create the program together on the spot. We are all leaders of our own lives, and at the same time participants. The schedule is based on meeting twice a day in a circle (morning and evening) and we create the rest of the daily program together depending on what’s important in each moment. NB. You can only participate for the whole event, starting with the opening ceremony on the first evening, and ending on the closing ceremony the last morning.
The Open Space principles are:
1. The people who are there, are the right people
2. Whatever happens, is the right thing to happen
3. When it begins, it begins
4. When it is over, it is over
5. Follow the Law of Two Feet
6. Expect the unexpected

FACILITATORS
The facilitators are Ton van der Kroon and Anne Wislez, who have been guiding many gatherings in different places all over the world: Ethiopia, Sinai, Bali, Egypt, Israel, Belgium, The Azores etc. They are both writers and passionate for building a new future.

ACCOMMODATION
The event will take place in hotel Dos Templarios in Tomar, capital of the Templars in Portugal. This spacious and luxurious hotel is just next to the center of Tomar and has a view on the old templar castle, Convento do Christo.

TRANSPORT
The hotel can easily be reached by plane to Lisbon and then 2 hours by train. Flights from Amsterdam and Brussel to Lisboa are rather cheap in februari, mostly under € 200 for a return flight. You can take any metro from the airport and step out at trainstation Lisboa Oriente. Here you buy a ticket for the 2 hour direct train to Tomar for €9,90. The final trainstation is Tomar. You can walk from the trainstation to the hotel in 15 minutes.

HOW: We are working with the principles of Open Space, creating the program together on the spot.
COSTS:  € 660 pp (based on a 2 person bedroom, halfboard), 790 € pp (in a single room, halfboard).

This price includes accommodation, breakfast, dinner and workshop. 
This does not include lunches (to be taken at your own expense in town), extra drinks and excursions decided on the spot.

PARTICIPATION
You can only participate for the whole event. All retreats start at 6 pm (18:00) with dinner and the opening ceremony on the first night, and end at 1 pm (13:00) on the last day with a closing ceremony right before lunch time.

NB. In case of cancellation, there is a cancellation fee of € 200 one month before the start of the event. After that the whole amount has to be paid.  Possible hotel cancellations should be checked with the hotel itself. Your registration to the retreat will only be confirmed once the payment is received.
